Whatever Wednesday: Vacations!

Hello, Posse!

I hope you are all safe and well and having a great week. I do not know about you, but I am not going to lie, I need a vacation! Pedro and I have been in this home with just each other and our wonderful rescue dog, Shaggy, for more than a year now due to CoVid19. While we have been getting out more and more the last few months, we still have not "spent" time out anywhere.

We go to a shop, pick up a few things, and then come home. We are not eating out or going to movies or local events like we had always done in previous years. We had also taken a vacation every year before CoVid. We would either each make a solo trip to our home countries to visit family and friends, or we would go somewhere else together. I'm American and Pedro is Chilean. It was always too expensive for us both to go to both countries together every year and with our parents getting older, we did not want to miss out visiting our families every year.

Pedro had been able to go back to the US with me one year and still make a trip to Chile to see his family. We were all set for me to go to Chile with him finally and still be able to make a trip back to the US when CoVid hit. We have hope that we will be able to at least make a short local trip somewhere soon, just to relax and have some different scenery. Pedro does have his first business trip in more than a year coming up soon, but he'll be working, so it's not really a vacation from anything but me and Shaggy. Which, granted, should still do him some good, and me as well. I plan to eat popcorn for dinner as I watch scary movies. Pedro is not a fan of either.

I hope the virus situation in Chile gets under control soon. I would love nothing more than to get to meet more of my extended family in person. I have been luckily enough to meet my sister-in-law and one of my stepdaughters, but there are so many more people I am dying to meet. Thank goodness for video chat until we can make that happen.

So what are your plans for vacations? Will you be taking one this year? Is it a staycation or will you be heading over the border now that some places have begun to open up?

Whatever your plans, I hope you have a safe and relaxing time. I think we can all use a bit of that!

Take care,

Dianne
