Manic Monday: DJ Jamison, Allie Alvis, and More Podcast News!

Hello My Happy People,

So much is going on right now. I am trying my best to keep up and keep everything sorted out and on schedule. I have great news to start off, I have a podcast sponsor! Because of this amazing person, all of the podcast episodes from the very first one, are now available on your favorite podcast providers and you no longer have to go to my archives on the Members Only page to find shows that are more than 90 days old.

This is a huge relief for me so I do not have to keep up with loading up old shows to my website as they disappear from the host site. They take up a lot of my website storage space that I could be using for book information. Plus, I need to have fewer "upkeep" things to do so I can have more time to just write. Currently, I spend about 70% of my working time on other things, like promotions and social media, than I do actually writing my books. I need to change that.

So who is my sponsor, you might be wondering ...

P.R. Burckhardt, my better half. This was a tough decision for me to make. P.R. already supports me by giving me this time away from a regular (actual income-earning), 9-5 job as I can try to make this writing career viable. Because of this, I do not ever want P.R. to have to invest cash directly into anything for my writing career. P.R. already works so hard to support us and give us the great life we have, so I do not want to add financial burdens.

I had hoped I would have found something to generate enough income to be able to purchase the basic podcast hosting plan myself by now, but it just hasn't happened yet. I was only two weeks away from the first episode being deleted forever from my hosting site. I was getting desperate to save it and P.R. stepped up, forever my superhero!

My plan is that this needed sponsorship is only temporary. I am still working to find a way to take these payments over on my own very soon. No matter what, I am so thankful to have such a great supporter in my life! I am incredibly lucky!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and got a change to enjoy the first part of my interview with my friend, indie romance author, DJ Jamison. She has so much great information for anyone who is curious about MM romance books and some best practices for anyone interested in building their own indie author career.

This week we will have the second half of her interview where she reads from her book, Two Truths and Lyle, which is part of a big free MM romance book promotion available until the end of the year. Links to her free book and to the other books in this promotion can be found in my podcast descriptions and below in this blog.

Last week, I had a chance to sit down and catch up with another great friend, Allie Alvis. She is such a fascinating person, I could have talked to her for hours! Allie is currently a rare book cataloguer for Type Punch Matrix and former reference librarian for the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives Special Collections. She holds two masters degrees in Information Management & Digital Preservation and Material Culture & the History of the Book. Both were earned with merit. She has a vast wealth of knowledge and we only just barely scratched the surface in our interview.

Allie is also a social media maven who shares her knowledge under the name Book Historia. You can find her on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and she even has an Etsy site where she sells book related crafts. Her interview will be on our July 20th and 27th episodes. We talk about everything from how she went from a young adult working in a bookstore in Wichita, Kansas to working for the Smithsonian as her first job out of college.

Allie also gives us a great deal if insight into the world of book preservation, antiquated publication techniques that actually created poisonous books bindings, and the nefarious practices that took place behind the scenes in one particular book publication. I can't wait to edit this interview because honestly want to listen to it again myself!

So there you have it, so much going on! I actually worked on my current book, Into the West: Family Ties too. Watch for another sneak peek coming soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out these great podcasts and be sure to think of P.R. when you do.

If you love books like we do, you are going to love these podcasts!

Have a great week, now go forth and be happy!

Dianne
