Hello Posse!
I am sure there are at least one or two of you who are asking why I am doing a Space Day blog today when Space Day is actually the first Friday in May. Well, Next Friday is also the Friday before Mother's Day and I want to celebrate Mother's Day next week, but I did not want to miss out on Space Day as well so we will just celebrate it a bit early for the blog.
If you follow astronomical events, the world was recently treated to a beautiful pink moon this week. I happened to catch it last night as I was walking Shaggy and it was quite impressive. I do not remember the last time the moon looked so big in our part of the world. I was glad I was able to catch it.
The next event coming up is on May 5th and 6th. If the sky is clear in your area you should be able to see the Eta Aquarid Meteors. It should make for a nice show. I used to love to drive out to the farm fields in our area of Kansas and just lay on the hood of my car to see the show.
One of the things you can do to celebrate Space Day next Friday is check out the website for the International Space Station. (<--- click here) They have an incredible assortment of information on their site. Find out about what projects the crew is working on, see some incredible photos, and you can even listen to a NASA podcast. It is more than worth the time to check it out!
