Hello My Happy People,
I am thrilled to bring you my interview with the fascinating poet and author, David Holper. David has an incredible background filled with some amazing experiences. He was a soldier, has worked as a taxi driver and fisherman in Alaska, a dishwasher, a bus driver, a house painter, a bike courier in San Francisco's financial district, and was a teacher for many years.
If that was not interesting enough, he has also published works including several stories, poems, and his new novel, The Church of the Very Last Chance, which David and I discuss in today's episode. His work has not only brought him attention, but has earned him awards as well.
David won second place in the 2024 Dancing Poetry Festival for his poem Roadside Grave. His work, The Earthquake,”was nominated for Best of Net at Synkroniciti in 2024, for which he also won the Synkroniciti award for best poem in the Sept. issue, 2023. David also served as the inaugural Poet Laureate for the City of Eureka, California from August 2019-August 2021.
David has several books of poetry available now including Language Lessons: A Linguistic Hejira, The Bridge: Poems, and 64 Questions: Poems. He also has a playlist for his novel, The Church of the Very Last Chance. If you are interested in checking out this music collection, it can be found by clicking HERE.
David has a new book of poetry, Bord for En (Table for One), planned for a 2025 publication as well as two new young adult novels, WatchGirl and Outcast. David currently lives in Eureka, California, with his wife. He considers his home to be far enough from "the madness of civilization that he can still see the stars at night and hear the Canada geese calling."
Don't wait, go check out this incredible author interview now.
Enjoy,
Dianne
